~ Sleep deprivation can kill you.

~ Waking you up in the middle of REM (Rapid Eye Movement or deep sleep) will make you tired all day, even if you went back to sleep and got a total of 8 hours. If you are awakened when you are not in REM sleep, you are not as affected by the interruption.

~ Light stops the production of melatonin, which helps you sleep. Even if you keep your head covered, and any part of your body is exposed to light, you lose the benefits that melatonin affords your body in helping you regenerate.

~ Your brain and body are very busy while you sleep. Cells are repaired, ‘tanks’ are refilled (endorphin, adrenal, thyroid, etc.) Your brain takes the millions of bytes and bits of information you collected during the day and puts them in order. It busily arranges data, dumps data you don’t need, and helps strengthen your memory. Get fewer than 6 hours of sleep and these processes don’t function properly.

~ Reuters reported on a “study by German researchers at the University of Luebeck”. The study showed your sleeping brain undergoes specific changes that lead to creativity and problem-solving insights the next day. This typically happens during “slow wave” deep sleep that occurs in the first four hours of the sleep cycle–but you need a full 8 hours to gain the benefits. Waking up too soon, or being startled awake can stop or reverse the processes.

Think of your computer. What happens if you give it a complex task, say, backing up, and you turn the computer off midway through the task? Kablooey! (That’s a technical term.)

~ Teenagers need to sleep more than adults. They are getting mugged by their hormones, and their brains and bodies are assimilating huge masses of data. One scientist claims that our kids would learn better if we started school at 9AM instead of 7:30, and kept them until 3 or 4 in the afternoon. And parents might see a calmer kid if they let’em sleep when they need to.

~ And yes, you can get too much sleep. Two recent studies reported by Scientific American claim that adults who sleep more than 8 hours have a shorter life span, too. But that could just be ‘cuz their spouses killed them… (nah, that was a joke!)

~ Dr. Rafael Pelayo of Stanford University’s Sleep Disorder Clinic says unequivocally that sleep deprivation is dangerous. And sleep deprivation is cumulative. So you need to give yourself a chance to catch up! Your life depends upon it.

According to Dr. Pelayo this is what happens:

* You will have problems with memory and concentration.
* You will have problems finding the right word.
*    You will become irritable.
* Neurotransmitters in your brain are altered.
* You become more susceptible to infection.
* At its extreme, sleep deprivation leads to death

1-K.I.S.S. This acronym translates to “Keep It Simple, Sunshine” (Ok, I substituted the word “sunshine” for the rude word it really uses.) First dates are nerve-wracking events which surely must have been invented by the same person who invented ancient torture devices such
as the rack and the iron maiden. To help both parties relax, keep the date plans simple. Keep the dress code casual and keep the setting relaxed. Save “impressive” for a time when you both feel more comfortable with one another. The first date should be fun and relaxing.

2-Just the Facts, Ma’am/Sir. Some people love surprises and some people hate them. Regardless of which type of person your date is, be sure to show them the courtesy of giving them enough information so they may be appropriately prepared for the date. They need to know how to dress, if there is anything they need to do or bring (sunscreen, bug spray,
sunglasses, comfortable walking shoes, etc), and how much time will be involved (they may have to arrange for a baby sitter or someone to give medication to a sick pet).

3-Safety First. Respect your date’s privacy and safety. Do not take offense at hesitancy to disclose a home address, give a home phone number, reveal a place of employment, or having a desire to meet in a public place rather than being picked up. You may be a perfectly law-abiding
citizen with high morals and great character. Your date needs time to learn that about you for their self.

4-Location, Location, Location. “Dinner and a movie” for a first date is not only unimaginative, but it limits opportunities the two of you will have for conversing and truly getting to know one another better. Make date plans which will allow you to interact with one another
and converse.

5-Miss Manners Says, “. . .” For goodness sake, mind your manners. Brush up on table manners and general etiquette if you must. No one wants to be embarrassed by a pig in public. Your bodily noises may be entertaining to your friends, but trust me on this: your date will NOT be
impressed. Gentlemen: remember to act like a gentleman. Ladies: remember to act like a lady. Etiquette was designed to help everyone know how to handle various situations and how to make everyone feel comfortable. It is a form of common courtesy and a high compliment to show manners to and around your date. A really nice touch is for either or both parties to show up with a small inexpensive gift for their date. Cost is not important: thoughtfulness is key.

6-The Three Magic Words (or phrases). Important enough to merit their own section, the three most important words/phrases you can say on a date are, “Thank You”, “Please”, and “I am Sorry”. Parts of common courtesy as well as the hallmark of a healthy relationship, using these words/phrases wherever appropriate shows you care about your date’s feelings and you are a person of honor. Both are attributes worth having.

7-Grease is the Word. Or not. Keep the topics of conversation appropriate. No one wants to hear you bash your ex or regale in the tales of your sexual exploits. Avoid stories which involve blood, internal organs, surgery, bodily functions, gore, etc. also. Best Advice: talk about and show a genuine interest in your date. You can talk about you another time. Don’t be secretive or evasive, as they want to get to know about you, as well; but be sure to not to be the main topic of discussion. Let your courteous actions impress. Your bragging won’t.

8-We’re Number One! Wrong. Your date is number one. Pay attention to them and their comfort. Remember that they are not you. They may have a very different level of stamina, fitness, and temperature tolerances. Make sure also to check on their need for food, drink, and restroom breaks. When inquiring as to these needs, remember to be tactful. Give them opportunities to address their needs, and provide what you can for their comfort.

9-The Fine Print. Oh, the wondrous technicalities of the date. Who pays? Will there be a kiss involved? Who will plan the date? What will we do? Discuss these things with your date in advance. A general rule of thumb is that whoever asks for the date, pays for the date. If it will
be otherwise, be sure to specify that to your date. Have a special kissing policy such as no kissing on a first date? Spare your date the anxiety about the kissing scene and tactfully let them know your personal boundary when it comes to kissing on first dates, ahead of time. Generally, whoever asks for the date is responsible to plan it, though requesting input and approval from your date is always a nice touch.

10-You Only Get One Chance at a First Impression. It is an irrevocable law decreed in heaven for all of existence and creation that something will go wrong when you are going on a date you are excited about. Breathe. Whatever blunder you make or whatever bad thing happens to you,
laugh it off and relax. If the bad thing happens to your date, help them to relax and be assured all is well. Showing grace under fire is another attribute well worth developing and having.

11-Clear and Present. . .intentions. Make your honest intentions clear. If you want another date, ask for it. If you don’t want one, under no circumstances should you ever ask for one or agree to one. That is dishonest and rude. Don’t waste their time or your own. If you say you will call them, do so. If you have no intention of calling them, for goodness sake, don’t say you will. Again: dishonest and rude. A simple statement such as, “I am sorry. You are a wonderful person but I
just don’t feel we connect. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Good luck.” is sufficient for most people as a reply of non-interest.

12-Follow Up. Make sure to send your date a note, flowers, or give them a short call after the date or the next day to let them know you appreciate their time, and the date. Keep it simple, but be sure to highlight the special things they did for you, and the things you really enjoyed. Even if you will not be seeing them again, it is a nice touch and the positive feedback will be welcomed by them. It may help them to feel less “rejected” as well.

Time is passing by a lot faster than you imagined when you were twenty-five. However, you may stay in shape and look good if you have a healthy diet and an active lifestyle.

Aerobics should become a routine for you. For instance, strengthening exercises, stretching exercises, and a healthy diet are a great formula for your health by enhancing metabolism and keeping your weight under control. This way, you may also combat depression, insomnia, or fatigue.

Work out while listening to your favorite music, or ask a friend to join you. If you do light aerobics you won`t risk to hurt your bones, get too tired, you`ll improve your flexibility, and breath easier.

When you work out, try not to push yourself too much and protect yourself from eventual injuries. Try to walk more, it`s easy, safe, and a cheap way to get rid of the stress and burn calories.

Riding the bike is the perfect exercise for women predisposed to osteoarthritis to the knees. Swimming can do miracles for women over forty by strengthening their muscular mass, tendons, and ligaments. You may start with swimming sessions of up to twenty minutes, and then relax with a massage.

Jog while you take the dog for a walk, it will be great to feel your muscles working and you heart full of life.Always ask for medical advice before you start a fitness program and let him know about any problem that may show up.

Anyone, Interested?

1. Clone a Porn Site Scam
It’s incredibly easy to set up a porn site.

Step-by-step:

- Register a website in Estonia or Bermuda or Kazakhstan. You know, somewhere where they don’t ask questions about this kind of stuff.

- Visit some existing porn sites and copy all their pictures. You’ll probably need about 100. (Don’t worry about these sites complaining – where do you think they got their pictures?)

- Post these pictures on your own site and charge five bucks to look at them. (Don’t worry about people complaining that you only have 100 pictures. Do you think they’ll go to the Better Business Bureau? And anyway, your site is hosted in Estonia.)

2. Write a ‘How to Get Rich’ Book Scam
What? You don’t know how to get rich quick? That doesn’t matter, do you think the authors of all these other books know how to get rich? They get rich by writing these crappy books, and so can you!

Don’t know what to write? It’s easy. Let’s see, Chapter 1 How to think like a winner. Chapter 2 Take command of your destiny. Chapter 3 Cultivating the dream. See, you can knock this stuff out in no time. And if you’re too lazy to spend three days doing this, you can sell it as an e-book on the Internet. That way you only need to write about ten pages!

3. Identity Theft Scam
If a bunch of Nigerians with bad English and email accounts can do it, you can do it, too! The premise is simple: if one in a thousand people will fall for it, send out a million emails. Like they say, a sucker logs on every minute.

What kind of emails am I talking about? Easy, pick a popular bank, clone their website and send out junk mail asking people to update their personal details.

Don’t have the tehnical skills? Go to your nearest college and find an Eastern European IT student. And don’t forget to host your clone website in Estonia.
4. The Well-Dressed Beggar Scam
Time to go low-tech for a while. Some time ago a sociologist did an experiment at a busy train station in London. First he posed as a beggar dressed in filthy rags to see how much money he could collect. Not much! But the next day, he returned to the station and posed as a businessman who had lost his wallet and needed to buy a ticket to return home.

“I’m terribly sorry to bother you, but I’m in a bit of a predicament…”

The old ladies fell over themselves to help out the ‘nice young man’ who had gotten into a ‘spot of bother’. And train tickets in London are not cheap!

Get the idea? We’ll make a scam artist out of you yet.

5. The Expiry-Date-Approaching Scam
An oldie but still a goodie. The premise is simple. If you are a young and attractive lady, hang out somewhere where you will meet rich old men with their ‘expiry date’ approaching soon. It worked for Anna Nicole Smith.

Hell, even if you’re unattractive, it’ll still work. Just pick one whose eyesight is failing! And guys, you’ve got a chance, too. Remember that women usually outlive their husbands (I wonder why!), so there are plenty of rich widows out there.

6. The Psychic Scam
The great thing about pretending to be a psychic is that nobody really expects you to prove it. If someone were to say, “If you’re really psychic, what’s my mother’s middle name?”, you could just answer, “The powers don’t work that way,” and continue to babble on about auras and voices from the other world.

The key here is to never give any concrete information. Talk in vague terms and tell people what they want to hear. “You will find Mr. Right soon!”

It’s simple; you buy a crystal ball and the Dummies Guide to Tarot Cards and you’re all set to scam.

7 .The E-Bay Scam
Another oldie but goodie. Remember the toast on E-Bay with the image of Mary on it. Well, it seems that Catholics are willing to part with large sums of money for crap as long as it’s got that miraculous image on it. So open that fridge and get to painting those images.

Hell, you can sell anything on E-Bay. Even air (if you claim it’s for ‘charity’).

8. The Pyramid Scheme Scam
Why oh why do chumps invest their money in these things? Statistics show that in many of these pyramids, less than one percent of the members make any money.

Unless, that is, you start the pyramid scheme yourself. That’s right; the guy at the top of the pyramid makes plenty of cash from his ‘downlines’ of suckers. After all, once you start your pyramid, anyone else who joins has to pay some money to you!

Of course, you should never use the phrase ‘pyramid scheme’ on your marks. Refer to it as a ‘multi-level business opportunity’.

9. Start a Cult
If you’re really hardcore, there’s no better scam to pull than starting up a cult. After all, what could be better than having hundreds of ‘disciples’ catering to your every whim because you’ve persuaded them that you’re Zahesh the Messenger of the Apocalypse (or something like that). Within no time, they’ll be emptying their bank accounts to fill up yours.

And don’t think you need to have a magnetic personality and good looks to pull this scam – just look at Kim Jong Il!

10. The Military Industrial Complex Scam
This one is really a scam for the rich to get richer. But anyway, here goes:

You need to be able to enter politics and make friends with the neocons (those are the Republicans that are gathered around the White House having secret discussions with each other). At the same time, you maintain your links with shady arms manufacturers.

You use your influence to lobby congress to send even more aid to Israel. No, not money, silly, we’re talking about military aid, here. After all, these pesky Palestinians teenagers are throwing rocks at the Israeli tanks again.

Now where oh where can we source some military hardware from. Lucky you have plenty of contacts in the arms industry. The best thing is that it’s not even called a kickback. It’s a ‘consultancy fee’.

Staying physically active and exercising regularly may help avoid or delay disease and disability. However, older adults are sometimes wary about exercising. Some are afraid to exercise because they think they will get too tired or may suffer injuries. Yet older adults hurt their well-being more by not exercising rather than exercising.

To stay healthy and independent you should do strength exercises, balance exercises, and stretching exercises. Strength exercises help build muscle and increase your metabolism; a higher metabolism will keep your weight and blood sugar in check. Here are a few useful tips to avoid injury: don’t hold your breath while exercising. Use smooth and steady movements to poise your body. Avoid thrusting movements. Breathe out while you lift or push weights and don’t forget to breathe in as you relax.

Balance exercises help build leg muscles and prevent falls. While doing balance exercises, try to hold onto a table or chair for balance with just one hand. Then slowly lift one leg to side, eight inches out to the side. Keep your back and legs straight and hold position. Slowly lower leg and repeat with other leg. You must keep your back and knees straight throughout exercise.

Hip flexion strengthens hip muscles. Hip flexion is important for good balance. Use ankle weights if you need to. You must stand straight and hold onto a table or chair. Then slowly bend one knee toward chest, but without bending waist or hips. Hold this position for one second before you slowly lower your leg.

Repeat this exercise with your other leg.

Before starting stretching exercises, warm up by doing some easy walking or pumping your arms first. It is normal to feel a mild discomfort or a mild pulling sensation. You shouldn’t bounce into a stretch – try making slow steady movements instead.

Triceps stretches lengthen muscles from the back of the upper arm. Try holding one end of a towel in your hand. Then raise and bend that arm to drape towel down back. Keep the arm in this position and hold onto the towel. Reach behind your lower back and seize the bottom end of towel with the other hand, and climb it progressively higher up the towel; that also pulls your right arm down. Continue as close as you can comfortably go. Don’t forget to reverse positions.

Endurance exercises include walking, jogging, swimming, raking etc. Build up your endurance gradually. Stretch after your activities, while your muscles are still warm; Drink water to avoid dehydration. Endurance exercises should not make you breathe too hard so you can’t talk, and should not cause chest pain or dizziness.

Certain foods may help you lose weight. Although some of them are high in calories, they may enhance the digestion by increasing the rate of burning fat.

Raspberries
Fibers are one of the main factors that assure a proper digestion and raspberries have large amounts of fibers, almost eight grams per cup. Gooseberries are also high in fibers, with over seven grams per cup while bilberries have almost four grams per cup.

   Turkey meat

Turkey meat is high in proteins and has the smallest amount of calories per 100 grams compared to other types of food. It also contains amino-acids and fibers so you will feel fuller.

Peanuts
Surprisingly, these caloric “bombs” balance the blood sugar levels and decrease the sense of hunger. People that consume 500 calories per day from peanuts don`t gain weight, compared to others who consumed the same amount of calories from other sources and gained weight, according to researchers.
Low-fat yogurt
Low-fat yogurt is an important source of calcium and minerals that may help you lose weight. For instance, the lack of calcium may lead to large production of a hormone called calcitriol that makes you stock fats easier.
Whole grains
The typical breakfast that consists of whole gains and milk is the perfect solution when you want to lose weight. Studies showed that women that consume whole grains for breakfast decrease their risk to become obese by thirty percent, unlike women who skip breakfast or consume other foods.

Corporate Lesson 1 : Naked Wife
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, “I’ll give you $800 to drop that towel.” After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob.
After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks,…
“Who was that?” “It was Bob the next door neighbor,” she replies. “Great!” the husband says, “Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?”

Moral of the story:
If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Corporate Lesson 2
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, “I’ll give each of you just one wish” “Me first! Me first!” says the admin. clerk. “I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.” Poof! She’s gone. “Me next! Me next!” says the sales rep. “I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.” Poof! He’s gone. “OK, you’re up,” the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, “I want those two back in the office after lunch.”

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

Corporate Lesson 3
A priest offered a lift to a Nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said,”Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest removed his hand. But,changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, “Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest apologized “Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.” Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, “Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.”

Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Corporate Lesson 4
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A rabbit asked him,”Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?” The crow answered: “Sure, why not.” So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

Corporate Lesson 5
A turkey was chatting with a bull “I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,” sighed the turkey, but I haven’t got the energy.” “Well, why don’t you nibble on my droppings?” replied the bull. “They’re packed with nutrients.” The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it wont keep you there.

If you had too much for a meal and you`re worried about the calories, no need to panic. With a little will you may easily lose 100 calories:

For instance, you may play volleyball on the beach for thirteen minutes, swim for seventeen minutes, or go fishing for forty-one minutes.

If you`re gone shopping, push the shopping basket while you`re walking for forty-five minutes. If you consume chili twice per day, you may burn 100 calories. Playing the piano for forty-one minutes or taking a walk for fifty-one minutes are also good ways to lose the excess of calories after a meal.

The benefic effects of green tea are well known, and drinking three cups of green tea in a period of twenty-four hours may help you burn 100 calories. Riding the bike for twenty minutes or having a massage for almost two hours are relaxing activities that make you burn 100 calories.
